One of my sons is an opioid addict. He asks me why I find joy in life because he can’t. I tell him watching the sun come up, watching the wrens eat at the feeder, complaining about the Twins and my property taxes. Anything that takes me away from my health is a positive. Zach will either kick his addiction or die from it. I tell him we all will die, how we choose what to enjoy while we live is what makes us happy. For me watching my wrens feed, John Marshall playing sports, going to mass, or hunting coyotes makes me happy. Find your place.

We have two houses close to the deck and we love our morning coffee there. The simplest pleasures are the best. Hunting Yotes sounds like fun. I had 4 fox running around close, and they did a great job keeping the rabbit population down. Coyotes moved in and ran them off. The rabbits now remind me of that Tribbles episode on Star Trek.

I've always been a bird nerd. This summer at the feeder I saw my first Indigo Bunting. Mere inches away was a beautiful male Oriole. I would have given my middle nut for a decent camera.

Was the Indigo a male also ? Seen pictures (not from you of course) but the blue of the male is suppose to be spectacular.

The Oriole is still my “yeti” I swear I saw one once but have no photographic proof. It kills me to this day. I love Cardinals and Bluejays but Orioles and Hummingbirds intrigue me to no end.

The Oriole is still my “yeti” I swear I saw one once but have no photographic proof. It kills me to this day. I love Cardinals and Bluejays but Orioles and Hummingbirds intrigue me to no end. Orioles seemingly only pass through centennial in the spring/early summer. I usually hear them before I see them. Their song is as clear as a Cardinal and as melodious as your wrens. I can keep them around a bit with sliced oranges in a cage. After I have them coming to the oranges, I put out a dish of grape jelly which they seem to love. Their nest is woven with grasses and resembles a gray tube sock hanging in the branches. They're usually gone from here by the end of June. I have plenty of hummingbirds as we grow a lot of flowers to attract them. I don't put out sugar water because it attracts too many hornets and ants. One migration I look forward to every year is Pelicans. They are so damned majestic in flight, I think I could watch them for hours. We don't have many bluejays, and I don't mind as they are crude in song and manner.

Pelicans have been migrating through Rochester the last 3 years, they are beautiful.
BlueJays are as%holes. But majestic to look at.
I was going to work Friday morning at 7am and in my Lilac bush was a male Cardinal, I didn’t get my phone out quick enough to get a picture. A Red Cardinal against the white hoarfrost would have been a great picture.

A Red Cardinal against the white hoarfrost would have been a great picture. I have lots of Cardinals. A product of an artesian well and tray feeders. I once had a winter picture of 8 male cardinals all waiting their turn to sup. Who knew I'd ever talk birds on a hockey message bored? But aside from that glorious male Indigo bunting, wrens are the best. It's so easy to become addicted to them. Mom And dad bring bugs to feed them, and the hatchlings gather up all the poop in the nest and give it to them to carry away. We'd all like to think we're committed parents, but carrying away poop in our mouths? It's your turn again dear...
